that large face in the background is distracting as hell and kind of creepy lol I'm sure its a poster in the background or something but my eyes go right to it, rather than the subject.

I think it's a great B&W shot. That little girl grabs my attention immediately. That background poster kind of looks like Jim Cary, doesn't it? :)

Thanks all for commenting.

I liked the three layers of people in this shot, and the "chain reaction" as the poster seems to look at the lady, who is looking at the girl, who is looking at herself in the wall mirror, and we know the reflection is looking back at the girl. My own eyes follow this same path: first I see the poster image, then I follow its gaze to the lady, then to the girl, the along the trajectory of the girl's gaze, hit the edge of the image with nowhere to go, and my eyes bounce back to the girl like a reflection.

The title reflects the fact that the poster seems to be in control. I wouldn't describe the poster as distraction because it is the reason for this image.

Thanks for all comments, compliments, tips and helpful suggestions.

I like the composition and concept here, Peter. That's one thing I definitely enjoy about your work: you make the message clear, at least to me.

The DoF here is nice, and goes along well with your theme. Putting my artist hat on (which is one of those little red beanies btw) the only thing that seems out of place to me is that this is taking place in a beauty salon. This type of setting isn't very "Big Brotherish", as it's not something we normally associate with that concept. Perhaps that was the idea, that even in an innocent setting such as this, we are being watched?

Your B&W conversion is spot on as usual.

If that infact is what you were going for, then you pulled it off. Its a nice picture...just, for me the poster is annoying. I think mostly because you cant really see is other eye so it makes him look goofy and cross eyed kind of...which is where the distraction comes in for me. I do like the concept, but feel if that poster were a couple nudges to the right, it would be much better.
