Beauty dish for flash?

Anyone used this? Is it just as awesome and good looking as a beauty dish on stropes?

My concern is, if the light from flash will be to hard to make it look good..

Edit, just had a talk with a photographer I know, sounds like it is best suited for stropes/lamps.

Wud - is your question about how a beauty dish would perform with a flash as opposed to a strobe?
Am not even certain that they make beauty dishes for flash...
the backside of the BD is built to be attached to a strobe..

also i don't think the flash output would have sufficient power to actually utilize the effectiveness or the 'beauty' of the beauty dish.

if you use an octogonal softbox (the deep throat kinds), you can come very close to matching the effect of a BD

You get this attachment, which let you use it with a speedlight. A video here, if you go to minute 8, you can see the final image: How to use a beauty dish with a speedlite - YouTube

Won't an softbox be more or less similar to umbrella? I am looking for something which could help me create more shadows in faces.

the softbox i was referring to is the octa softbox.
for example, elinchrom have this modifier -

it's an 8 edge octa..
which produces a beautiful effect.. it can be used in a number of ways, one of them being to replicate the effect of a BD
