Battery pack

Hi folks,

I see Nikon has an offer on just now for a free battery pack (MB-D15) when you buy a D7100.

I am wondering if the grip comes with the two(?) batteries?

Also, it says it can take AA batteries, but i need some adaptor or tray…does it come with that?

Amazon seems to be one of the few places i can buy it and their description doesn't really say!

Thanks!

The grip from Nikon comes with both trays, but I couldn't pull up the deal you linked to so I can't say if it comes with an extra battery. Normally when you buy the grip all you get is the trays, no extra batteries.

The current offer is for a free grip not a battery pack. As Kevin has said it comes with both trays. There is no battery in this offer just the grip. Here is the URL for the terms and conditions of the offer.

Having gone through this recently ... confirming what's been stated.

The MB-D15 does come with trays for both the EN-EL15 battery, and the tray for AA batteries. The grip does NOT come with an extra EN-EL15 battery, however.

Thanks for the replies.

I gather the grip takes two batteries, but do you still keep one in the camera, making three batteries total?

If i buy the camera here in the UK it will cost me 768GBP, but i get the battery grip free at a cost of 200GBP. The other option is i buy the camera from Onestop-digital at a cost of 554 GBP, but with no battery grip. 6 and half a dozen i guess….but handy to know RE how many batteries.

The grip takes a single battery, while a second battery remains in the camera body for a total of two active batteries. The battery model is identical between the grip and the camera body (EN-EL15), so they are interchangable.

Note that while you have a battery in the camera and another in the grip, you can select which gets used first.

The Amazon price for the battery pack is well over $200. That equals about 3 batteries including tax where I live. I'll save my money for batteries.:smile-new:
