Just received my after market battery pack,i didnt need it for extra battery power but i did find the D5100 a little small to hold,it does this job nicely a bit more to get my hands round there is no perceivable weight addition not that i would have minded if there was and its a snug fit on the camera.There is a small cable which allows the use of the shutter release on the pack but my style of shooting doesn't require that so haven't bothered with it,takes one or two batterys and ime going to use it at the moment with one may buy a second Nikon battery at some point.
