Back up Flash.

I am thinking I need a back up flash to my SB-910, I do have a SB-600 but the hot shoe does not work, it only works remotely. What flash would you recommend? I was thinking of another SB-910 but know there are other good flashes out there as well.

There are cheapwer units that are good... but you have a 910... assuming you like it, and can afford another, you may want to get another... You will know the flash no matter which you grab!!

If you are looking to save, SB 700, some of the Yongnuo models but controls and operation will be different...

It is going to be darned hard to beat that SB-910, I absolutely love mine. I have a SB-800 also and have been thinking of adding a 3rd so I have been reading also. I have looked at some of the Yongnuo flashes but in looking at detailed pro type use I'm not convinced of the durability. Some of the pro use reviews basically state after 2-3 hard sessions the flash fails and no longer flashes. I have flashed the heck (5-600 flashes session) out of both my Nikons and never had a failure.

Yongnuo owners don't hate me just relaying what I have read recently especially Amazon product reviews.

Ok looks like I will get another SB-910. Am waiting on my yearly bonus so should have enough for a SB-910 and a Nikon AF-S VR II Zoom-Nikkor 70-200mm f/2.8G IF-ED.

I want to work where you do -- last time I got a bonus of any kind was in the 1990's and all it bought was a descent lunch. So much for a life in nature and the arts.

It's so much easier to recommend something especially when price does not get in the way. I think you will be all set Scott.
