I've looked at ordering from B&H several times - every time the cost of exchange (at they so nicely display for you) and their product pricing have never snagged the deal. Either found it for less from a Canadian supplier or decided against the purchase all together due to costs.
RE: Buying expensive lens or camera out of country or on line anywhere does not happen as I am very reluctant to drop a lot of coin on anything sent by mail - any repair needed needs to be be mailed back (sometimes are your cost - sometimes both there and back). Had computer part fail recently - it was under warranty - but shipping was so costly I bought another one for less. (I had bought from Amazon.CA - initial purchase was free shipping but returning it was cost prohibitive because I had to ship to USA, then pay them to ship the replacement to me. I didn't even know it had originally came in from USA). And when I'm dropping a grand or so, I like personal customer service, I want to handle the thing, and I want easy return. This I get from brick and mortar stores. I need a IR Remote Control gizmo $25 locally, $2 off eBay - eBay wins.
I do shop on line - I've bought a few used lenses from KEH (even with shipping the same used lens there was cheaper than at B&H used).
Also I found that when I was in the USA this past December that Nikon prices in the USA were no better than Canadian prices (indeed their price at a Best Buy for a D610 was more than I paid in Canada for the same camera six months earlier and D610 prices were supposed to have come down??) I had hoped for some bargains, thinking I might come home with some new gear - but no Nikon gear tempted me enough to pry open the holiday wallet. I did buy a used lens on KEH and had it shipped (OVERNIGHT! for FREE) to my son's place in Mississippi. US Post (in the USA) is so much cheaper and faster than Canada Post it is mind blowing to us poor Canucks who pay very dearly to mail anything, and then wait weeks for it to go to the next province.
