Hi ladies and gents! You can't get rid of me that easily! ;) I've been super busy helping the local high school drama department. First I made a couple of posters from photos that were submitted to me then I took photos during the first of 4 drama events for the spring. I decided to try editing RAW files instead of jpegs, and with over 200 photos (and all the marks on the stage to clean up), I've got my work cut out for me. :) I did run into a problem and will have to determine whether the problem is the lens or the camera. This is the first time I used my new D610 in low light. When I focus, I tend to focus by holding the shutter halfway then recompose and shoot. The problem is that the lens--my Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8-- would refocus when I recomposed. Many of the photos are slightly out of focus. It was never a problem with the D600. I could hear the lens refocusing so I had to switch to moving the single point focus around (in AF-S), but it still posed a problem when the focus point was close to the edge of the frame (those focus points aren't spread all the way to the edges). I remember reading about some people having issues with new Nikons when coupled with aftermarket lenses. I'll have to try out several things to see if I can isolate the cause. Lots of work ahead! I've missed reading the forum! Nice to see everyone again!
