Any good teleconverter lens?

I am looking to get a teleconverter lens for my D7000. Any suggestions?

Should I stick with the Nikon brand itself or do you think other brands may do just fine? This would be for outdoor/birdwatching/hiking, so it can get a little rough.

I have used the one from Vivitar... it's garbage. The pictures turn out foggy.

Not all TC's will work with all lenses, so take a look at your glass and go from their. If you're shooting Nikon glass then your best bet is a Nikon TC, though there are a few others that will work.
