the first picture is a nice subject, quite nicely composed too, if a little too central, but thats fine as its such an interesting creature. Id say the image could be edited a little, my alteration is below if you want to see it. The second image for me doesnt work, it feels like the tree is in the way, Id take the image with the tree to one side, but it depends what you are trying to show.

Hello,

I just took away the lack of micro contrast in this rendition and cropped
so the insect will have it's rightful place in the frame and, by giving it a
bit of an angle, tried to bring it a more dynamic posture:

Your second shot is just great the way it is because the rendition is, and
this is very important to me, very natural.

Don't you ever give up!

"… dammn, I forgot to crop mine, glad Kodiak is here to show his ace skills"

I'm not sure of how I should understand this!

In your case, Dan, I would have suggested some possible improvements since you
are not a new fox at the game. Just suggested!

In the case of "renejas"'s dragonfly, it is clear the skills are at basic level and a
demonstration is far more efficient then 50 lines of text. Furthermore, the "image
editing" option says "yes" as you took the same liberty to edit!

If I understand this right, this remark should have been done behind the curtain of PM!

Vbrg,

Strange thing composition, your first subject shows a vast improvement with Kodiaks crop, although ime going through a phase of space around my subjects at the moment there are some that do need a tight crop.

The second one is full of fantastic colour and a relaxing scene at the same time,i will admit on a personal level I struggle with the tree in the centre,it creates a divider of the scene and I cant see a reason for that in the picture.
This is not to say its wrong but to suggest next time you are in that situation take more pictures with the tree in different places then see what you think.

Kodiak although bechdan is from Wales and ime from England :D i may have worded it that way without any dig meant, its just different understandings of phrasing,i work with a lot of Polish workers and sometimes i can see by there face they have understood the words perfectly but not the intended meaning,so i explain and all is understood as you may say.

thanks for stepping in there mikew, but not to worry, I appreciate what Kodiak said and I do agree with him. Its one way of learning for me too.

Hi Mike,

The tight crop I proposed was not needed as such but the point was to avoid the
perfect (or close to) horizontal/vertical composition of the insect in the frame.

re bechdan: The only language that has the title mother tongue for me is French.
In English and in German, there are many idiosyncrasies that make me some difficulties.
In this case, I'm still not sure of the intentions and not sure of my understanding!

Have a good day…

So your post came online before mine! OK, "not to worry!"

Thanks all for you critics and i accept.BUT..understand that im only a rookie among all wolves here ;)) another thing..im thinking why not to experiment?? do we all have to go the same path in order to success?? why not go "unusal" ways and make things more interesting?? probably everyone here ..or 99% would put that three on either side..left/right. isnt that boring sometimes?? and if someone famous photograph make that shot with the three in the middle..that would be genius shot probably...:)) just my personal thinking.. AND whatever i do i can get away couse im still newbie :))

Hello René,

"Thanks all for you critics and i accept.BUT
..understand that im only a rookie among all wolves here…"

Big mistake! I, for one, know that there is at least one bear on the list!
Big mistake! All the ferocious "animals" were are wish a taste of your pictures
but none is looking for your blood… vampires do that not wolves nor bears
and not here!

why not to experiment??
Please do experiment… AND NEVER STOP! If you put the tree in the middle… it is
your right, I liked it… but if you are seeking feedback, all kind of observations will be
made by all kind of eyes. That is the purpose of a forum: a tribune where you may
exhibit your pictures and get some feedback if you want so. If the pictures stayed
in your computer, no one would ever see them!

just my personal thinking..
… just our personal thinking too! Everyone is learning and sharing openly. There
are no reason to feel under attack… but these are "wolves" (and bear!) and you
think you are a sheep, maybe? It took us years to get to this point, and we are
all learning faster (and having fun) together!

AND whatever i do i can get away couse im still newbie
Oh, do I hate this word, this excuse… When this community sees the pictures, it
can appreciate the level and react in the proper way (most of the time).

You are welcomed by all because we all share the passion and the fun!
Some of us will want to stay young through it (or forget we are getting older),
some will extend their physical abilities or creative potential, whatever… but we
all spent that huge amount of money on gear!
…and now we have to justify the spendings… =)

Keep the pictures coming and have fun!

So i can justify my gear and efforts and sense for esthetics. And to get better reactions obvious. The other one- with the three in the middle will be for my computer.
