This is another test shot with new camera and kit lens cropped....Ugly or passable?

You only gave me a choice from two so i have to go with ugly :D joking aside i think you need to be more explicit about what aspect you are checking and simplify your subjects,that would not have been all that easy to light well even even with more lights

I'm not sure what you mean about test shot, but if you want feedback in the image, I would say to much stuff stuck into the image. Try to work with only 1 object, move the other stuff, stay clear of distracting stuff in the background.

Sorry but I have to go with Ugly. There are too many elements in the pictures that are downright distracting my eyes. The main subject (is it the figurine?) is too small and dead centre.

Maybe you should try to get a book on basic photography and learn a little bit about exposure, focus, lighting AND composition. From my point of view, it looks like you were just walking around the house and took pictures here and there of what was there. It could be a good picture for insurance purposes if you are looking to create a photo inventory.

I'm curious, how old are you?

Says on his profile, that he is retired. Probably just started out photographing. Could be fun to see everybody's first shots from way back then ;)
