Another passion I have

If I can I love getting antiques and cleaning them up and getting them running. And sell or trade for other adventures. I was on my way to one of my favorite parks to see what would jump in front of my camera when I came across an older couple dragging things to the side of the road. Right away the floor clock grabbed my attention. So, I make a rather poor U-turn. And come back to see what was what. So, I pull over and ask if the clock was for sale. The couple said it was free. They are moving and have no room for the clock and some other items. (I'll get to that later!) I started discussing the clock and wondered if they knew the heritage of it. The lady said they had it for over 50 years. Before that, her father had it for how long, she couldn't remember. I asked if they did any research on it and were sure they wanted to get rid of it. They said they didn't. But, she said she never liked it and wanted it gone. So, ok. I loaded it up and brought it home. After getting it cleaned up. It was in a barn for awhile. That was apparent. I was looking at this:

Today I got a simple movement to get the clock going until I can restore the original. And I put it in the den and placed another hobby of mine on it.

Nice clock and a good restoration job. However, do not trade one passion for another! When you take a picture of a shiny surface, don't point the flash at it  Whatever the post is about, we want to see nice pictures! :D

Nice restoration, Steve. I live it the town where Seth Thomas clocks were built. They went out long ago, but the building is still there. There was a small part of it left that was run by some of the old clockmakers that sold and serviced used Seth Thomas clocks. After the last one passed away 5 years ago (at 90!) the shop closed up and what was left of parts and clocks went to auction for big $$$.

I was to lazy to dig out the flash and do it right last night. Just happy to get it running!

Yes, it's working. I just got the movement started and didn't have it set yet. Taken just a couple minutes ago.
