AF-C Release vs Focus priority opinions

I'm beginning to play around with AF-C mode and I was wondering about opinions on using Focus priority over Release priority. I understand that using Focus priority could result in not getting some shots and could slow down continuous shooting but I'm looking for advice from those with more experience. Thanks.

IMO, NOT using Focus Priority only has meaning when shooting a burst, when you hope it will find focus by frame 2 or 3. You still have the shutter held down, so AF-C continues seeking focus, which is good when the subject is moving fast.

If shooting one frame, not using Focus Priority seems stupid. You can remember to first hold half press a second to let it focus, but still seems a dumb way to work (for one picture).

I only use AF-C mode and focus priority using a single point focus.

There is another method of doing this is by programming your AE-L /AF-L to do the auto focusing instead of doing the half press on your shutter button. It takes getting use to it but once you get the hang of it, you might get more keepers.
