AF assist light & metering?

Does the operation of the AF assist light have any impact on how the camera meters a scene or is the camera able to make a distinction between it and other light? Thanks.

No, it does not. The auto-meter takes place after focus is obtained since focus can affect the amount of light coming in to the sensor.
