Advice for D5000

Hi Guys,
I have a Nikon D5000 which I have had for a number of years, I've experimented with Macro with my Tamron 70-300 Tele-Macro Lens, but recently I've decided to try and get something maybe more specialised. Mainly I like to take photos of insects and other tiny things, my current Tamron is good, but just not that good, and when it comes to Telephoto I tend to use that for small birds, which are hard to get close to since they are so skittish.

So I am wondering if you have any advice for me on what would be best? at the moment I'm not really prepared to spend over $1000 per lens, but I expect with the age of my camera buying something more than that would be pointless any way. A guy at a Camera store recommended a Sigma 150-500mm f5-6.3 APO DG OS HSM for my Telephoto work, and I can get that for around $900, I'd like to know what you guys think of that.

I don't have a clue when it comes to Macro lenses though.

Get you a kit lens and a reversal ring and a tripod and a reflector. Then get you some good stacking software. Cheap and and it will do what you are trying to do. Then if you are really adventuress get you an old 55 macro Nikkor non Ai, Ai, or whatever...again...cheap cheap cheap. :)
