manual focus only with Nikon AFS (silent wave)

I have been seriously looking at getting an extension tube. Is this normal that AFS doesn't work?

I read that too Don... If it will mount and meter I would be happy (5100 with 35 or 50 primes). For extreme macros, I actually prefer manual focus.

Interesting. I'm thinking these and my 85mm f1.8 would be a much cheaper solution than opting for a separate macro lens.
