A Trip to San Francisco

During a recent trip to San Francisco we stayed in Medford, OR and from out hotel room this building caught my eye as the evening twilight was glinting off the windows. By the time I got around to getting the camera and tripod out most of the twilight was gone. I'll be adding more.

What appears to be a very old grader that might have been pulled by a team of horses or a tractor sits in a field next to a rest stop near Weed, CA.

Photos taken in the California State Railroad Museum are quite a challenge due to the directional lighting and the amount of people. A volunteer told me that several times a year they have a “Tripod to Rails” event that allows people to come in before regular business hours and use a tripod and equipment to photograph to their hearts desire. Due to the size of the subjects a flash is virtually useless and I have learned that with a my 10-20mm Sigma I need an external flash due to the shadow cast by the lens.

Should you ever end up in Sacramento, California it is well worth a look. California State Railroad Museum

My method of shooting: Brace myself against a solid object, hold my breath and shoot.

We got home yesterday leaving all that nice sunny 80 degree weather to return to damp cold fog. I'll try and add some photos over the next few days.

I apologize for my delay in finishing this thread, but time has not been my friend. I have had fun doing this and will start another in a few days time permitting, but I'm at work and for some reason my boss seem's to think work comes first. :dispirited:

These were taken the evening before the last leg home. I did some tweaking in Corel Paint Shop.
