First thing to try is to clean the contacts on the lens, camera and both ends of the TC. AF speed takes a hit with my 200/2 VR2, 300/2.8 VR1 and 400/2.8 VR when using the TC-20E III but not with the TC-14E III. Not a big hit, but noticeable. I haven't tried TCs with zooms so I cannot comment on that. Possibly the zoom focuses so slowly anyway that the TC doesn't affect it in the same proportion as it does the fast primes. I don't have the 70-200VR2 but I have the VR1 and the focusing speed is very slow compared to 200VR2.</blockquote>
