Amnon - Shooting in LiveView has everything to do with what you're experiencing. A DSLR is designed to operate most efficiently with you looking through the viewfinder, and that's where you'll get your immediate response and ability to fire off maximum frames per second. LiveView is a compromise of sorts, and though it provides major benefits in some areas it has mechanical overhead because of the mirror mechanism - something you don't have in a point and shoot since you're always reading off the sensor.
