I bought one just as a stop gap until I could buy better glass for that range as I am in the process of switching systems.
Expected my 18-55VR to be junk pretty much......it is not - she is super sharp on my D300. Real nice lens, worth much much more than the $85 I paid for it! In fact I also bought a 55-200 cheap and the pair make a more than decent kit for lightweight walk arounds!
