@Dawg Pics , many thanks for that. 👍 I’ve no immediate plans to buy a Nikon Z but should I do that software looks just the ticket.

Gents, thanks for your feedback. Clearly it’s a matter of what’s important to each of us how we spend our money and what we consider value. I’m more than happy to splash the cash where I’m going to get an improvement in photos. I rarely change my cameras. I have a film Olympus OM-2 bought in...

Importing photos from Nikon cameras to Photoshop Elements 14.

That’s understood. But I’m required to buy PE again after three years because it will stop working. So if I keep the camera for 9 years that’s £255 when there’s been no change to the camera. That’s the bit I find hard to accept. I don’t condone piracy but you can understand why some people...

The same as the higher setting on the Z6. 👍

What image type is on the D7100?

Importing photos from Nikon cameras to Photoshop Elements 14.

@Needa, I’ve no setting on my D7100 to select colour depth, lossless compressed or just compressed. Having done some research NX Studio would appear to be a decent alternative to the rip-off Adobe PSE. I would have paid £85 for a lifetime licence but expecting you to buy again after just three...

@Needa , is a nef file from a D7100 different to a nef file from the Nikon Z range? Surely RAW is RAW isn’t it?

Importing photos from Nikon cameras to Photoshop Elements 14.

When I bought my Nikon D7100 DSLR 10 years ago my existing version of PSE didn’t recognise the camera so I had to buy the latest version - 14. It was on CD. Installed it and all was well until I changed the computer on which it was installed. I didn’t unregistered it and had some problems...

VR “broken” on Nikon 18-200 DX VR

The replacement 18-200 Mk 2 arrived this morning and works perfectly. Hopefully trouble-free for several years.

VR “broken” on Nikon 18-200 DX VR

@Clovishound , thanks. I’ve never taken the lens off with the camera powered up.

VR “broken” on Nikon 18-200 DX VR

With an 18-200 lens that covers all my needs it rarely comes off. I’ve always been careful handling my cameras over 50+ years. This is the first time I’ve had this kind of failure. I’ve always left VR on. Does that cause any issues? Maybe turning it on only when required might help. But then...

VR “broken” on Nikon 18-200 DX VR

@hark , it was more about its longevity really. Does VR tend to eventually fail on all compatible lenses? Autofocus still works fine on my 17 year-old lens but VR has failed during the last 6-7 months.

VR “broken” on Nikon 18-200 DX VR

I’ll report back as things progress. I want to gauge people’s experiences with VR but I’ll post a separate topic. 👍

VR “broken” on Nikon 18-200 DX VR

A more positive experience this morning. I phoned MPB and the call was answered almost immediately. The young lady listened attentively as I went through the problem. She said it sounds like a full test of the lens by their staff missed VR not working. The lens will be collected tomorrow and...

VR “broken” on Nikon 18-200 DX VR

I was lucky to acquire a Coolscan V 9 years ago. Invaluable for digitising lots of precious shots from the 70s onwards. The detail from a 5x4 negative must be a sight to behold. 😳

VR “broken” on Nikon 18-200 DX VR

@Silversnapper , thank you for posting your experience. Much appreciated and it gives me hope my situation will be resolved to my satisfaction. Whilst I was at my mates we has a play with some film SLRs from the 70s. A Practika and early Canon. Today’s cameras are so much more advanced. But...

VR “broken” on Nikon 18-200 DX VR

I’m just back home from visiting my mate in Chorley, Lancashire. M6 motorway mad busy near M58 with people heading to Liverpool for tour of City by the Premier League Champions. 😁 We tried my existing 18-200 plus the newly acquired one from MPB. VR doesn’t work on his D7500 body. So both lenses...

VR “broken” on Nikon 18-200 DX VR

I’ve remembered a friend who has the D7500 so I’m going to his on Monday and we can check VR on my original 18-200 and the one just purchased. That way I can determine if my D7100 body is the problem or the lenses. I still feel it’s the lenses and the one I bought second hand hasn’t been...
