    Mirrorless in 2026, maybe!

I think I'm a while away from going mirrorless - if I do get another Nikon body this year it'd more likely be a used D850 (to replace my D800) than a mirrorless camera. I'd be more tempted if there was a mirrorless APS-C replacement for my D500, but while the Z50ii is supposed to be closer, I...

Thanks! I was lucky with the timing of the northern lights during the theme period, as well as them being mostly green.

Weekly Challenge Dec 10th - Dec 16th "Green"

There was a faint aurora visible from the village tonight, and fortunately the main colour was green! D500, Tamron 16-300, 2s & f/3.5 at 16.0mm and iso2000. I was walking the dog so didn't have a tripod so had to brace the camera using a fencepost.

    Weekly Challenge Dec. 3 - 9: Deteriorating

Nikon D500, Tamron 16-300, 1/320s & f/6.0 at 175.0mm and iso1400. I decided I'd shoot something for this on my dog walk with Obi today. I had quite a few options but in the end I liked these deteriorating fenceposts become little mossy ecosystems.

    All in One Lens

I'm using the Tamron 16-300 as my walkabout/snapshot lens, previously on a D7100 and now on a D500. For a single lens solution I think it's a pretty decent performer (bearing in mind it is a superzoom) and reasonably compact as well.

    Versatile lens

I've got a Tamron 16-300 that I use as my walkabout lens on a D7100. It's very versatile and the results are decent for a superzoom. These are some examples shot with that combination: Optically it's of course not as good as the 24-120mm F4 I use on my D800, but that combination is a bit...
