    Just Re-bought a D300

I used to own a D300 and sold it some time back to release funds for new cameras and lenses. It wasn’t that I didn’t appreciate the D300, it was just that it didn’t get much use at that time in my life and I needed the funds. It was a case of get rid of the D700 I also owned or the D300. I kept...

    Old Sigma 20-40 f/2.8

I picked this discontinued lens up a few months ago but in great condition for $170 US. It had just sat in my camera bag until now but I got my opportunity to try it out when my wife and I visited the Bunya Mountains National Park near where I live on the weekend. The Park is a beautiful...

    Regular Visitors to my Garden

The combination of an old AF 300mm f4 and old D300 are still a top class pair. I have included some photos of a pair of King Parrots that regularly visit my home. I am still awed by the clarity of the photos from the 300mm/D300 taken yesterday. The three photos were taken handheld and touched...

    New Nikon J3 Language Problem

I got a good deal on a new Nikon J3 from Japan. The only problem is that when I turned it on, I was not given the option of which language to use. The whole menu is in Japanese. How do I reset it to choose English? I hope it can be changed to English or I am going to have a problem.:miserable:

    D7100 vs D700 Shutter Speed

This should be considered an enthusiastic amateur's post and eventually two questions. I just covered a grandson's christening with my D700 using a Nikon 80-200mm f2.8 lens. Lighting indoors in the church was not good but setting a high ISO with the lens aperture mostly wide open or one stop...

NIKON 180MM 2.8 ED AI-S LENS not metering correctly in Aperture mode.

I am new to using the older manual focus lenses. I recently bought this 180mm lens. It takes beautiful photos but will not meter correctly on my D7100 or D700 in aperture mode (where my 135mm Ai lens does). At f2.8 the photo is underexposed with exposure increasing as the f stop number increases...

Some Musings of a relatively new hobbyist using the D7100

I should point out that I am relatively new user of digital cameras. Many, many years ago I did own a 35mm single lens reflex film camera that I used for a while (I can't even remember which brand it was) but there has been a substantial hiatus in my photographic experience since then that was...

    Tamron 150-600 on a D5100?

I am considering buying the Tamron SP 150-600mm F5-6.3 lens to use on my Nikon d5100. I have seen good reports of it being used on D7000 and D7100's. I was wondering if anyone has used this lens with the D5100 and if they had found it could be used successfully ie. no focusing problems etc.
