try finding a live subject. dragonflies are great but if it was alive you would be better off with a longer focal length. my fave kit for dragonflies is either my d7000 with the sigma 150, or even better, my new d7100 with the 300 f4 af-s and tc14ii converter.

has anyone tried out the sirui p 324x monopod? i was wondering what the build quality is like as i am considering getting one. they look promising as an alternative to a tripod for photography on the move. ​

the 300 f4 and tc 14ii is a great performer if you dont mind the lack of vr. super sharp optics and built like a tank.

i own the 105mm af-d micro nikkor and yes, it does extend when you focus at minimum distance but nowhere near as much as the tamron 90mm. the tamron almost doubles in length! the nikon increases its length by about a quarter. when shooting at more normal distances neither extend. the newer vr...

as far as i remember the raynox will only focus at a fixed distance. some users set their lens to infinity and move the camera to focus. hardly ideal. i have 3 macro lenses at the moment. the micro-nikkor 60mm and 105mm af-d, plus the sigma 150mm plus sigma 1.4 tc. the latter being my fave for...
