One is almost straight outta the D40, the other I brightened with PSE 6.0. I sort of feel the bright one shows TOO MUCH detail and confuses the eye. I like the shadowed pic better... It's one of my best and favorite shots, so I'd really appreciate your opinions here... :D Thanks!

Anyone tried the Image Overlay option in the D40's Retouch Menu? :confused: Strikes me that if I take a pic of a scene underexposed, keep the camera absolutely still, and then take another of this same scene overexposed, I could then merge the two right in the camera via the Image Overlay...

I discovered that using higher shutter speeds with my f1/8 35mm lens on my D40 would often cause me to lose most of the flashing and blinking light colors, as the camera stopped the action usually between the lighting-up sequences... :eek: So I instead set the shutter speeds down to 1/13 and...

Problem is, the camera usually tries to be TOO good to me..? :confused: When I have my 1.8 lens on it, I find that the night shots I like are damn near impossible with the the A or P or Night or any auto mode settings! Far too often a photo taken on a lighted street or in a lighted hall at 10PM...

While I don't always agree with everything Rockwell has to say re Nikon DSLRs and how to use them, IMO he's right on with his review of the D40! I am constantly amazed at how well HAND HELD shots made at such low shutter speeds of 1/15 to 1/30 sec come out with this little gem of a camera...
