Nikon D750 DSLR Camera 1543, Nikon D750 Body B&H Photo Video

My 200-500 arrived this afternoon and I had a few minutes to play with it in the back yard with my mutts. Shot manual and pics below are SOOC. First was on my D7000, rest on D750. Planning on spending a couple of hours at the Zoo tomorrow morning with it and the D750.

When I set my 750 to self timer, it fires off 6 shots. ??? If I switch on bracketing, it will shoot the number of frames I pick to bracket. But with bracketing off, it shoots 6. Any thoughts?
