    IOptron Sky Tracker Mount.

Anybody try this mount yet? Well besides me. I found it a little tricky to align the first time but pretty simple there after once you know what you're doing. Here's an example of a 10 minute exposure at ISO 400.

    Crackle and Zap.

So a few weeks back I threw away all good sense for personal safety and stood on the golf course by my house with my carbon fibre tripod in the path of an oncoming storm. This is a few of the results. Hope you guys like them.

    Star shooting is hard!

So to be truthful I haven't really tried to shoot stars. I love shooting at night but mostly for light painting and panoramas. The following shot was done during a full moon which is not ideal for stars at all but the D800E has such an amazing dynamic range that it managed to pick quite a few up...

    D800E's power to resolve.

I am more and more amazed by how far THIS much resolution and a relative steady hand and sharp lens can go. The following picture was shot hand held on a D800E with a 70-300 VR F4.5-5.6 at 1/200 iso 100. The second one is the same only cropped 200%!!! While its not poster or calendar worthy it...
