    Jake's Backdoor Hippie-palooza, 2014 Edition

2014-026: Some shots from my morning jaunt to grab the paper, and then feed the birds. Swung by the local train yard, which I'd known about but never realized the amount of activity that still goes on there. There used to be a great old station on the platform where passenger travel occurred...

    Jake's Backdoor Hippie-palooza, 2014 Edition

2014-025: It was one of those days when the shots you were presented with either weren't capture quite as well as you'd like (geese too far out of frame, stuff not just quite "right"). But, I froze and took pictures, which is the idea, right? Even with the office window open (note to self -...

    Post your 'ALMOST' Photos..

I've been fairly good at making sure my cameras are set "close" to the way I want them when I set them on my passenger seat for a drive out and about. Today, they were set for what I suspected would be some long exposures of frozen creeks. So, when I saw this Red Tail Hawk snag a rabbit, while...

    Jake's Backdoor Hippie-palooza, 2014 Edition

2014-024: Got up and went downstairs to make coffee. I have a habit of not turning on lights until I get into the kitchen, just so I can see what the moon might look like out the back window. Today, I turned around, went upstairs, grabbed the D800 which thankfully was still mostly set up...

    Jake's Backdoor Hippie-palooza, 2014 Edition

2014-023: One of these days I'm going to figure out a way to keep the finger tips from going numb when shooting out here. This is from Easton, PA where the Lehigh and Delaware Rivers converge. There were so many photos worth taking, but alas, the cold got the best of me and I scurried back to...

    Jake's Backdoor Hippie-palooza, 2014 Edition

2014-022: Another day at the office. (LR edit) And if you're following along in the ISO thread, this one was at ISO 6400 (auto ISO), handheld while on a conference call.

    Jake's Backdoor Hippie-palooza, 2014 Edition

2014-021: Well, in a 365 there are going to be bad weather days with weather you wish you could capture if the elements would just cooperate, so I woke up saying, "Yes!! It's going to be a snowflake day!!", only to have every snowflake I captured be nothing more than a bizarre little ice...

2014-019: A little "street" from the front seat of my car. Chained Smoking We got about 2/3" of snow yesterday, and it never ceases to amaze me how it will melt in the rough on golf courses, but not on the fairways and greens. I suspect it has to do with the length of the grass...

    Elephant B&W

Exposure is too hot on the large elephant's ears and back, and too dark on the small elephant. Even with fixing that best I could... ...the grass is too structured and looks like it was converted from a color image that had colors go over-saturated.

2014-018: Looked to my left as I sat at a traffic light this morning, grabbed my camera from the passenger seat and squeezed off this one... "Making The Most Of A Little Snow" (LR only edit) And that was after I grabbed these, figuring one of them would work for the day.

Printing Your Photos - why aren't we angry yet?

It's the photographer's version of the age old question of, "Why do hot dogs come in a 10 pack, but rolls come in an 8 pack?", and it's something that's bothered me since I started buying enlargements of concert photos I shot or snuck into my brother's dark room to print my own stuff...

    Jake's Backdoor Hippie-palooza, 2014 Edition

2014-15: (cont.) As mentioned with the previous post, I had some more to share, but hadn't the will to get them out of the camera last night. I've lived in this town for almost 22 years, and am embarrassed (and at the same time thrilled) to say that it's taken a photography addiction to make...

    Jake's Backdoor Hippie-palooza, 2014 Edition

2014-015: The fog this morning was dense and frozen, making walking on any surface treacherous. I managed not to kill myself getting to the front walk to get this. I have others in the camera from a short jaunt today, but so far I've managed to post at least one on each day, so I give you my...
