    Bit the Bullet

I am having way too much fun with this camera. I really took advantage of the snow today and some of the cool features that this camera has. I haven't even explored most of them. Here is a brief sampling of what I took last night after I had a fully charged battery. Original: Color...

2-8-13: Took a couple of snow photos this afternoon after I came home. The snow had started about an hour before, very light and fluffy. I used fill flash on this one. I love how the background just drops away. Brrr... I just liked the texture pattern that the snow produced on the back...

2-7-13: Stopped at the grocery store on my way home from work to get a few things we needed. Saw the bananas and thought they were perfect objects for today's image. So here they are. :) Bananarama Stems

    Nikkor f/2.8 35-70mm zoom - worth fixing?

I have a f/2.8 35-70mm zoom lens (non D) where the aperture ring has a lot of play in it. It causes the lens to wobble a little bit between the aperture ring and lens mount. I know it is affecting the photos I have taken with this lens. My question is, "Is the lens worth fixing or not?" TIA...

2-6-13: Of course, the day I have my camera with me to photograph the mallards that have been hanging out in the creek I drive over every day to get home, and not a fowl in sight. Sigh.... That made me decide to take a couple of photos in the barn, better known as Gary's Playhouse. So, here...

2-5-13: Okay, after an incredibly stupid day at work, this is about as far as my brain would function. I won't even give you the title. Have fun guessing. The only hint I will give you is that most people have these in their homes.

    Bit the Bullet

OKay, I finally bit the bullet (or is it pressed the enter key) and purchased a D7000 body. I realize that the replacement will be out sometime in the spring, but I have been wanting the D7000 for some time now and can afford it. II do not know if I will be able to afford the replacement...

2-4-13: Here is a bit of winter whimsy... Bears in Chairs And, of course, the opportunistic feline photo: I Know There is Something There Creature was looking at the dog, who was off-camera. Creature was contemplating a horrible torture that she could inflict on poor Jenny (the dog). :)

2-3-13: All you bird photographers in warmer climates inspired me to see what I could photograph. During the winter, we do not get much of a selection of birds, mainly, crows, pigeons, sparrows, chickadees and lots and lots of very aggressive, nasty, Canada geese that are not smart enough to...

2-2-13: Today was another one of those none too exciting winter days in Upstate New York but I did manage to get at least one photo outside. A Winter Stream Same image, but cropped: Neither one excites me, but at least I got outside, froze my butt off and snapped a few photos. :)

2-1-13: When it is too cold to go outside for long, I am glad I have several hobbies. I am back to my comfort zone lens. :) Beaker of Beads Beads! Beads! Beads!

1-31-13: Okay, like others in the now-back-to-cold Northeastern U.S., I did not venture out beyond going to and from work. I decided on my way home to take food photos. The first is a mug of oolong tea that I made for myself to have with dinner. Sorry for the cat on the mug without the...

    Piperbarb's 2013 Project 365

1-30-13: After a wave of cold weather, we have had a few days of weather in the high 40s & 50s (F). This caused a lot of melting and runoff. During the cold snap, a lot of rivers and creeks froze in spots. This used to happen every year, but it hasn't happened much during the past few...

1-29-13: Some days finding a photo is harder than others, then feline photo opp occurs.... You have been warned. :) Maybe I have to stop using that 105 micro-Nikkor for a while. It's too easy to find willing subjects. :)

1-27-13: Today wasn't as nice as yesterday so, unfortunately, these are inside shots. And yes, there is the obligatory feline photo warning for 2 of the 3 photos. :) All three photos were taken with my AF 105 f/2.8 Micro-Nikkor lens. I love that lens. I did use the on-camera flash, for...

1-26-13: Today it was warm enough to venture outside. I had errands to do, so I had to go out anyway. We have a rhododendron in front of our house that I refer to as a biothermometer. Once the temperature gets down to the upper 20s (F), the leaves start to curl, the colder it is, the tighter...

1-25-13: Another day of indoor photos, no cats, though. :) I took a photo of a silk orchid that is part of a flower arrangement I have. I then played with some of the in-camera settings that are available on my D3000. I used the monochrome cyanotype and then the color outline (which gives a...

1-23-13: I was not able to upload yesterday' photo because the Web site wouldn't load causing my browser to time out. Anyway, here is yesterday's photo. It was way too cold to go out and take pictures, so I had to do the opportunistic feline photo. You have been warned. :) Herself
