I'm planning on renting a Tamron a little later in the year for an event. Rental agency only has the G1. Thoughts of the G1 in this case? Last event I rented the Nikon 200-500mm, which is fine, but I think a little shorter minimum focal length will help in some of the planned shooting locations...

Recent shoot I rented the Nikon 200-500mm for my D500. Nice lens; deciding if I would buy that one, or perhaps the Tamron 150-600mm (which I'll rent in the future). Anyway, my arm was pretty sore carrying that Nikon around most of the day. What is the best recommendation for transport? Next...

First real day outside with my new Tamron 70-200mm Di G2.....

Exotic pix yet to come, but yesterday I received my new Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8 G2, so I needed to test it on my D500. My pretty Puma :)

Hand held, too. The 70-300 Nikon VR lens (until I find a great deal on a more pro model, but nonetheless, having fun with this!) on my D500; the red F1 car from Manfrotto monopod.

Some of this year's Monterey CA races. Stationary aim, rapid fire as the car moved along.

Thanks for the reviews; I've had the same questions. I spend the summer months out at the race track in Monterey CA shooting the motorcycle and car races. Been looking toward a 70-200 for my D500. In the interim I bought an open box 70-300 Nikon VR. It does nice work, but I expect better images...

Thanks for the response. The original had virtually no post-production. I went back to the RAW image and warmed it up here.

The D500 is no longer being offered with an included grip. I never understand how Nikon lists its price at $449 (with outlets such as B&H selling it for $369); never seemed remotely worth that kind of money, but I was happy to pull the trigger and get my D500 about a month ago with the grip...
