Fresh, new look for my B&W vision

For a long time, I've been searching for that 'perfect' B&W conversion for my images. I have always wanted a process that had contrast, fine detail,….. yet a bit of 'grunge' look to it that sort of mimics film grain. I've tried a lot of processes, but none have ever really left me satisfied...

Did Sigma drop their 8mm circular fisheye?

Noticed this morning that Siggy's 8mm circular fisheye (for full-frame bodies) is no longer listed on their website. Did they drop it from their line-up, or is it simply a website error?

Finally got out with a camera for the first time this year. Was talking to the neighbor, and they had jays and cardinals and all sorts of winged critters at their feeders. So after I got my chores done this morning, I went a huntin'......... and all the birds were gone. So I picked another...

If you use a digital camera, READ THIS!

Just a heads-up for anyone who uses any sort of digital camera: It's a fact of life you will, at some time or other, find yourself needing to recover images from a corrupt or reformatted memory card. DO NOT wait until you need to recover lost images before you look for a solution. It's...

First go-about with the Siggy 8mm

Finally got out this morning to take my new (to me) Sigma 8mm circular fisheye for a test drive. I haven't had a chance to do my standard bench-test to find to 'sweet spot', so I tried to keep the aperture at f/8 or f/11. As I'm visiting family in Texas for the holiday, I took a stroll around...

    Sigma 15mm f2.8 Fisheye - First Impressions

You're absolutely right. So when I see a scene, and want this as my final result: Yes, this is the scene I wanted to capture. When I saw it, I knew I wanted to create the illusion of no horizon, and the water blending into the sky. Instead of using software, I should rent a couple dozen...

Decided to see what the 70-200/2.8 could do with the neighbor's Christmas lights.... what the bokeh might look like as well as stars. I only stayed out 10 minutes... it's too cold!
