In learning to use my new D7100 I've come across an issue I really hope someone can help with.
In live view I cannot make the preview work. Say I'm in Aperture priority mode and I step the Ap. from say..1.8 to 16...the manual says to push the OK button and you get a preview in live mode...Well...
Here is my latest effort. I also wanted to ask:
I have been going out on shoots and am taking a really high amount of shots. I use bracketing in 2 or 3 shot bursts because I am still learning my exposure and compositional techniques and figured it couldn't hurt. But I am winding up taking 3-400...
I just received my 24-70 2.8 & D7100 today so I took them out and did a test shoot to make sure they were working properly. Only 1 problem: Although they look pretty sharp to me, I have absolutely no experience with which to gauge the results. I was hoping some of you might take a look and just...

I've a newbie to photography and in doing my homework I decided to get an SB-700 and the R1 System-less the SU-800-as my initial lighting gear. My rationale was to get the R1 for when I start to get into Macro-Still life stuff. I'm just wondering if I was wise in these purchases and where to go...
I just found a great deal on a D7100 to use as a second body to go along with my D800. The reason is that in the month I've had the 800 I put 8000 cycles on it and at that rate in a year I'd have 100,000. So to take out on exploratory shoots I picked up the 7100 to use. My question is, will the...
I'm thinking of popping for one more lens. I'm all set in the wide angle area. My only long lens is a 70-300vr that is really nice, but I'm wondering if a 70-200 2.8 would be smart or stupid to consider. It would complete the trinity as I have the other two. But the price tag is really out of...
A great idea to post a photo every day and keep the learning process going. I'll start today with a simple snapshot of my heart..Moochie, an award winning Persian showcat I rescued from that life and is now the king of the castle. I love animals and he is quite the character.
After going out on 2 shoots this week I was totally spent. So I took these quick snaps of my beautiful Moochie, a prize winning persian who I rescued from a lifetime of what I feel is abuse as a showcat. He is now the king of the castle and as spoiled as can be. To my mind animals are better...
Being a total Newbie, I'm hoping to gain some knowledge here as I live up in Maine and the landscape here is stunning. I'd appreciate all the advice and help I can get. I've posted some of my early efforts in the Gallery and I'll just post a couple of examples here. Thanks!
I posted my story in the Intro section and I guess this is where I can post some of my really early efforts here for some honest comments on weather I have the potential to do any good creative work. I am determined to learn and do as much as my deteriorating health will allow. Thanks in advance...
Hi all,
I'm new here..1st post..My story is...I was a fairly successful working musician until I developed some serious health issues. I now need to find a new creative outlet and I've always loved photography and just dabbled for a while in my younger days. Now I'd like to get more serious...
