I have the Tamron 70-300mm VC and have been very impressed with it so far. Saying that I have very little to compare it to, a more experienced photographer would most likely see issues with it that I have not. Here is one shot taken with it at 300mm, to my eye it is pretty sharp, certainly...

    Marcel, is this your cat?

I took a few photos of yesterday of this cat that's always wandering into my garden and giving me the evil eye. Then I came on Nikonnites and saw Marcel's shot in the monthly photo assignment thread of a very similar looking cat. For some reason that made me want to post them here. As I'm still...

    Nikon F80/N80.....worth purchasing???

Seems like it's been a worthwhile buy as my wife is enjoying learning to use her first SLR.

    Rain cover for camera bag?

Hi All, I'm looking at buying a camera bag, similar in style to a lowepro AW 55 (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Case-Logic-Compact-protection-Hammock/dp/B001TZUS98/ref=pd_cp_ph_0) but it doesn't come with an in built rain cover which is a bit of a draw back. I'd have thought it would be easy to come...

I picked up a Tamron 70-300mm 4-5.6 VC USD lens last weekend. Really happy with it so far. Here's a couple of early shots with it. Contrast up slightly, no other editing on this Jpeg. Straight from the camera, not the best but still quite sharp. I'm really happy with this lens so far...

    Post your flower pics

I was messing about with a poppy close up and it caught on fire! Thought it was quite cool but not at all what I was going for. Here's another poppy coming out to play.

WeeHector is this also a Scorpionfly? I don't like how this looks using the flash, without it the few other shots I took were quite blurry. They're weird beasts!

    Post your flower pics

I don't feel like I've got the hang of photographing flowers at all yet. These are my best ones to date, the selection few from a great number of lousy shots. Not sure which of these 3 is best? I like the first one.

    Insects with non macro lenses

Here's a few I managed to get today. I was mostly using my 55-200 and then cropped the images to get something like a macro feel. Hover fly having a drink Fly looking like he's ready to pounce. Another fly on a leaf. I think this was a male hover fly trying to entice the female on the...

    Post your 'ALMOST' Photos..

This was never going to be the crispest of shots because it was beyond the reach of my lens but I'd still have loved to have got the focus on its head with the water droplets and reflection.

Having bought my first DSLR a couple of weeks ago, I bought "my" first film SLR today, a F80/N80. It's not really mine as it is for my wife. At £59 I hope it was a steal and my wife will enjoy using it!

    Nikon F80/N80.....worth purchasing???

So after probably not enough deliberation I bought it! The most important thing is that my wife likes it. At the last minute whilst in the camera shop I started thinking that a more compact film camera, like a small Pentax my be a better choice but there really wasn't anything of this quality...

    Nikon F80/N80.....worth purchasing???

Hi folks, Having just taken up photography as a hobby in the past few weeks, I've spent a lot of time talking to my wife about it and she's shown real interest in it too. Ideally she could use my D3200 to learn with and she probably will but if I'm being honest when she's using it, I get...

    A few woodland portraits...

Thanks for the feedback. I did do some very basic post editing, including adjusting the colour slightly. I really have very little idea of what I'm trying to achieve at the moment and it's just a case of playing around. Here is the original unedited copy, I don't know if the colours are better...

    A few woodland portraits...

I went for a walk this evening with my wife and decided to take a few woodland portraits. These are my first attempts and I did my best to do my model justice. Any constructive criticism is welcomed!
