Why do so many insects want to hang upside down all the time?

    Weekly Photo Challenge Aug 21st - Aug 27th "Macro/Close-up"

Well, I could wait for something better in a day or two, but will go out on a limb and post this one. I set the camera to Cuteness Factor 8.3 and fired away.

    Question on a lens

I don't own one, but I typically avoid high zoom ratios. There are significant prices to be paid for that extreme range. Sharpness is one price. They also tend to suffer issues with focusing and zoom creep. Read some of the reviews available online and they speak to these issues. Personally...

    Clovis' Nikon Nuggets

Another weird one. Did a quick search, and was unable to identify this critter. Some kind of beetle, I suppose. Wasps aren't usually this cooperative.

Great hummingbird pictures. I even like the chipmunk image, even though they are sort of squirrels. Squirrels are evil!

Post your: Let's do lunch shots!

I occasionally get lucky enough to get some shots when critters are having a bit of a snack. Usually the snack is not terribly pleased with it. I'll start it off with this robber fly munching on some kind of bee.

Vote for Weekly Photo Challenge Aug 7th - Aug 13th "Photo with a Caption"

Thanks. I sort of liked my caption a little better, but your photo was definitely the superior. Remember, this is a photography forum, not a writing forum. ;) I use Photoshop for my stacking, so I'm not much help there. I don't use focus stacking that often, however. I do try and keep my...

    Clovis' Nikon Nuggets

Decided to shake things up a little today, and headed over to Cypress Gardens. Now don't get too excited, the macro lens never came off the Z7ii. There were a few different critters however. These are most likely stink bug nymphs. There were a ton of them. When I first saw them, they were...

    Connectivity Problem with Z7ii

Try using the "connect to a smart device" menu option on the camera. This is the instruction page from the user's manual online in case you need it: Online manual

    Needa's Abysmal Attempts!

Always get an insurance shot. Last year I had an owl fly up and land on a branch not too far away from me. I went ahead and took a couple shots before trying to move a little closer. Good thing I did, as it flew off as soon as my hand touched the tripod.

Thanks for the kind words. This time of year, macro is the most accessible for wildlife photography. The heat and humidity here can be rather oppressive for other types of outings, especially at my age. When I was in my early 20s, I could mow the lawn in 90+ degree heat and barely be damp under...

    Dominique’s old stones (mostly)

You probably know this but just for clarity, as long as you have the metadata in your image file, which the ones you posted do, others with a browser add on can read the data about your photo. For example, the photo you posted above was shot at 19mm on 08/08/2012 at 17:49:56, focus at infinity...

Great shot! Hummingbirds are notoriously hard to shoot.
