Yes, tripod most of the time for static shots. Some places I go mono because of the terrain. My hand and elbow can't take hand-held for very long with the big lens.

Thanks Woody. I've been chasing that bird around the lake for a month getting nadda, then two days in a row, it poses for a couple of descent shots. Go figure
