Solved - "Extend lens before taking photos" message

I believe the reason is to make the lens more secure when transporting it. The zoom gets locked down and shouldn't move when the lens gets bumped around. Having a backup is a good thing. I still keep my old D3400 and a couple lenses for it. It's not worth that much to sell or trade, and even...

Solved - "Extend lens before taking photos" message

Never had that happen with my Z5. Hopefully Nikon will straighten it out for you. Do you have another lens, and does it do the same thing? (Wondering if this is an issue with the lens itself.) How about turning the camera on before extending the lens?

    AF Micro 105mm 2.8 with D5600

I rarely use autofocus with my Z105 micro lens when I'm taking macro photos hand held. I usually fine tune focus by moving the camera in and out.

    Post your Photographing the photographer.

I've been in worst to get a shot. Seldom is it worth it, but I never seem to learn.

    Sensor cleaning needed

I had to clean mine yesterday. I was surprised to see a bunch of small motes, and one fair sized one. The rocket took care of most of it, but there were two that just wouldn't dislodge. I only saw the one large mote on the image.

    Clovis' Nikon Nuggets

Well, it won't be every day, but sometimes more than once a week.

I should probably leave that to someone who has the Sigma and is using it with a Z camera. There are lots of reviews out there on the Sigma 150-600, the Tamron 150-600, and the Nikon Z 180-600. Keep in mind that there are two different Sigma 150-600 lenses. A contemporary and a sports model. The...

The Meike tubes are what I have. They work fine. Again, I found the short working distance a little frustrating, but not a deal killer. You will want a diffuser for the SB-600. This is the style I have. They are cheap, work well, and store very easily. amazon Keep in mind that if you decide...

    Sensor cleaning needed

I find that using a small flashlight to shine obliquely on the sensor makes seeing dust easy. It also makes ensuring that you actually got it all a piece of cake. Saves you from having to mount the lens back up and take a picture of a blank wall. Also helpful to make sure it's clean prior to an...

Well, looking at your interest list, it looks like you already have landscape covered with the 24-70. You could temporarily cover close up with the 24-70 by adding a set of extension tubes. Long term you will likely want something like the Z 105 micro, but that can probably wait until you see if...

    80-400 mm lens for D5500

The short answer to your question is yes, an FX lens will work fine on your D5500. Another option to consider is the Nikon 200-500 F5.6. It has an excellent reputation for image quality and is a constant F5.6 aperture over the entire zoom range. It runs $1400 new, which is considerably less...

Greetings from the UK (Sheffield/Peak District)

Keep in mind any DX (including the Z DX 50-250) lens you put on your Z5 will give you something like a 12 MP image. This is a significant degradation of image quality. Try it with the DX 35mm lens you have and see for yourself, but I'm confident you won't be happy with the results. If you are...

Set tripod height for wildlife photography

Never really thought of that. Might be interesting, if they ever decide to do it. I suppose they just figure the rear screen will work just fine.

Set tripod height for wildlife photography

I normally try and set the tripod to put me on level with the animal I am shooting, if possible. It can mean that I have the tripod at an uncomfortable height. I shot this picture from as close to ground level as I could to try and be level with the bird, as it gives a more appealing look than...

    Sensor cleaning needed

I got something that was likely oily on my sensor soon after getting my Z5. I was afraid I had ruined my camera. I was extremely nervous cleaning it. It took several swabs to completely remove whatever it was. I've had to clean it several times since. Those only took one quick swab. I try and be...

    That new guy

Too late, she already did! That's OK. I'll probably never shoot film again, unless I help my niece out with my dad's old Rollie TLR that I gave her year before last.

Greetings from the UK (Sheffield/Peak District)

It depends on what you plan on taking pictures of. The 24-70 you have will do nicely for landscape and general all around picture taking. If you want to be able to take close ups of things like architectural details and things, critters or people from a distance, then something that gets you out...

    How to de-haze or moisture?

I ran this through Topaz to sharpen, although that probably won't make much difference to the haze effect, and probably not necessary with the full resolution original image. I then imported into Lightroom and gave it a bunch of dehaze slider. I then did a quick mask on the dark portions of the...
