I love the effect of the panned water but would have cropped the ground to make it like a panorama crop.

Marcel, I looked at your suggestion but I think it adds more interest and perspective with the marsh included. I am always interested in what others think, especially with someone with your talents and experience. Hearing from others and checking out new ideas can only help me to improve. Thanks for your suggestion, and as always everyone's comments are welcome.

Thanks a lot for your compliment, it is much appreciated. I just wish we had a bigger variety of birds to photograph. I went out this morning to try and get some images of shrimp boats but when I got over the bridge to Biloxi where they are at, the sky was black and it started raining. It looked like the end of the world was coming so I went back home.

As I look at this shot, I scrolled up and down and really like just the bird and water. I think because a great capture, in my opinion, really benifits from simplicity. I also see your point about perspective.
This one is a WOW Jeff. I love it!
I'm with you Jeff, I wish we had a bigger variety of birds also. I find myself not taking as many photos at the wetlands of the same birds unless they're doing something different. Now that it's winter, some other birds are coming back. Starting to see more storks and a few limpkins. The purple martins haven't arrived yet.

Now that it is winter, most of our birds are Gone!! 
We do not have the abundance of varieties you folks have. I was trying to catch a squirral yesterday and as I moved, I statled a blue jay.. tried to c=get his pic but he stayed just immersed enough in the trees and at a distnace that nothing was a keeper.. (did get an ok one of the squrral)

Thanks for the compliment Marcel. I am really enjoying shooting with the combination of Nikon 70-200VR F2.8 and the Nikon 2X 20E III teleconverter. This combination gives me some pretty good reach and I have steady enough hands that I can shoot still subjects and BIF shots with decent results handheld and not need to use a tripod. This combination and my Sigma 17-50-F2.8 are my most used lenses.

Great shot Jeff... you sure have steadier hands than me... That setup is working, the sharpness is amazing for a handheld teleconverter..
