[SUP]OK as this is off topic, I have decided to share this with the rest on the forum. I can not stop laughing at this. This is from the Australian News.

[/SUP]Fail: Anti-Obama teen wants to move to Australia because we have 'Christian, male president'

BARACK Obama's "four more years'' victory tweet may have become the most retweeted message of all time, but last night one American teenager's misguided views on Australia were lighting up the twittersphere down under.

Clearly disappointed with the election result, 18-year-old Georgia republican Kristen Neel joined the throngs of American Twitter users claiming they were moving to Australia to escape Obama's presidency.

Unfortunately, she got a few facts wrong.

"I'm moving to Australia, because their president is a Christian and actually supports what he says,'' she tweeted.

Neel's tweet quickly went viral as bemused Aussies retweeted it more than 1400 times, many pointing out that Australia actually has an atheist, female Prime Minister.

"Our Prime Minister is a woman, an atheist who lives with a man she hasn't married. I don't think you'd like it here,''tweeted Ian Cuthbertson, TV editor at The Australian.

"I think you meant Antarctica. Move there,'' tweeted @post_rock0.

"Congratulations on being the dumbest person in the world,'' tweeted @Patrickavenell.

Neel's Twitter account has since been disabled.

Neel was just one of dozens of Americans who tweeted that they were moving to Australia in the wake of Obama's win.

Buzzfeed helpfully collated 37 of the best into one spot.

The mass of American republicans eager to head Down Under prompted several memes in response, including this one, which helpfully gives them a lesson in what Australia is about.

lol, you hear this kind of stuff all the time about Canada. Republicans, it has been reported, wanted to move to Canada if Obama got in. Wait a second... does not Canada have a lot of things that Republicans hate, like lot's of immigration and publicly funded health care?? It's all a good laugh;)

For me it was a laugh, but that is nothing .... in the last elections when Sarah Palin was running, a Japanese TV crew went to Alaska and asked about Sarah Palin, and then asked 100 people to point to Japan on the map, 80% pointed to countries in South East Asia, like the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, 2 pointed to New Zealand(???), 2 pointed to China, 1 to Taiwan, 1 to England(Not even in Asia) out of 100 only about 5 got the correct place on the map.

I am a Aussie living in Japan, if Japan and China start a war over the Senkaku Islands, please if the USA comes to Japan's defense make sure you bomb the right country, Thanks, I do not want to wake up with a TLAM on my lap.

With as much debt as we have run up with China, what makes you believe we will come into the conflict on Japans side? ;)

That's great!!! I love it! You know, this election has been a real eye opener for many Americans like this not-so-smart woman. The right had so convinced themselves of victory that defeat came as a complete surprise to many of them, especially Mitt Romney himself. But the most entertaining was Karl Rove, who spent over $300 million of other people's money, continued to argue with Fox News desk's call of an Obama victory until the bitter end. It's been estimated that over $2.5 billion dollars was spent on this election, the most ever in the history of the US and I've got to believe those donors are wondering exactly what all the money bought them.

I'm wondering if that girl had a college education. If so, she didn't get her money's worth! :)

She might, Jack. There are so many college students who have a limited knowledge of geography and world/cultural affairs. They take a class and do just enough to get through it and pass. It often boils down to a lack of interest in others and a desire to live in their own moment. Plus, our youth simply don't like to read or write. And, let's not mention history. Young people don't understand that you can't really set a path as to where you're going, if you really don't know where you've been.

Makes you wonder why supposedly sane, smart people would spend over 2 Billion dollars for a job that only pays $400,000 a year. But then it's not as if they are spending their own money is it? :encouragement:

Those who seek political office do so for several reasons that are often not about money. They do it because they really do believe in their cause, and it's often about empowerment.

Ummm the US-Japan Security agreement for 1 and as both Japan and China keeps buying the US Debt Bonds to keep the USA afloat, I think what ever side you pick the other will dump the bonds so you guys would be in economic trouble. So I feel for you guys, you are going to be stuffed either way, so lets hope it does not kick off here.

You know, the "debt" that China holds is just paper. If China chooses war with us all that debt they hold will revert back to paper with ink, nothing more and nothing less. So it would be very much against their interests to attempt anything other than compromise when it comes to dealing with the US.

They wouldn't have to declare war on us to do damage. All they'd have to do is start dumping our debt on the markets at pennies on the dollar... and the US Dollar loses its reserve currency status... If you were India, would you buy Treasuries at the current auction rates from the US, or from China at $.10 on the dollar???

No, not really. Were China to do this and sell the bonds at 10 cents on the dollar they would automatically slash their holdings by 90% and lose a ton of money. They now have a vested interest in keeping the dollar strong. So either way, it's an insurance policy for America because anything detrimental they do to us will also hurt them, too.

You just wait...this girl and her generation are going to be the ones running the country someday...may God help us all! :) I'm glad I'll be dead or dying by then...

BTW it explicitly states on the forum home page "no politics" with regard to this category which IMHO is a damn good rule. I'm a card carrying Democrat too not a Republican I'm just saying....
