Hey, I have a Nikon AF-S DX VR Zoom-Nikkor 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G IF-ED used on a Nikon D90.
It focuses well mid-range but not at 200mm.
Is there a place I can take it in the DC metro area?

Welcome Bob!

We are not affiliated with Nikon. Have you tried doing a search for camera shops in your area?

Another option is to buy used. MPB has quite a few in stock for around $165 in "excellent" condition. You might even get a little knocked off the price by trading yours in as a "spares and repairs" lens.

KEH also does repairs on photo gear according to the website.

This to me, sounds like the most cost effective option..

The only one thing I would like to add is that, while I'm not sure how many other members here are from countries outside the US, it would help immensely if, when quoting a site you could add the link as well and not just the name... I notice that more often than not, most of you, take it for granted, that the rest of us, already know, what all these short labels are or means...

Something like this: MBP or KEH

It is always interesting even if maybe, they don't see overseas, (MBP and KEH both do sell overseas) to get an idea of what's available and in particularly the prices of similar items in other countries...

My first Video camera was purchased from B&H, and it was only thanks to a reply from another member in that forum back in 2007 that I got to know B&H.. I'm still a B&H customer to this day...

Yes, this is a good point, as I had to google MBP, which is not an issue. Though it does seem to be for some people on other sites...arghhh...
A company name and url would be great.

Also, thanks for all the responses so far. Trying to digest all that.

Hi, all depends on how much you require and what you use the lens for. I purchased the same lens earlier this year for £30 on ebay with a known focus fault that is common on this particular lens ( crack in ribbon). I acquired it specifically for snap shots on holiday and it did a very good job as a manual focus lens, so to me it would all depend on what you need it for, Switch it to manual and snap away, save the repair money and treat yourself to a different lens that is on your wish list. All the best.
