I felt sort of sorry for this Great Egret nestling since it was an "only child". Of course, that meant plenty of food and attention, so maybe not so bad. (Orlando Wetlands)
After diving into the water at high speed and grabbing a fish, the Osprey then has to yank a heavy fish out of the water while completely soaked with water. These birds are strong. (Colorado)
This was almost three weeks ago and the babies had not yet ventured out of the nest. The male had delivered some food and was perched on the edge of the nest while the female and one of the babies can be seen in the cavity looking at him.
