Snapbridge Question

I'm shooting in my back yard, Snapbridge connected via Bluetooth to my Z6III. Have Snapbridge tied into Imagespace. Has been working well since I bought the camera. This morning shot a few and they went over to Snapbridge. Shot some more, they didn't transfer to Snapbridge. Didn't turn camera off. Only changes I made were to white balance. Ones that didn't transfet were shot with Preset 1 White Balance. Went back to auto white balance, still no transfer.

Any ideas?

If those image transfers are going to a microSD card in your phone, test that card. Is if full? Can you write or transfer any other file or photos to it?

It is not uncommon for the microSD cards to fail in a way that it will no longer write files but you can still read files stored on it. If that happens, it is a lost cause. Back up all the files you need from that old card and buy a new one.

When I process I download via USB. I use Snapbridge when I travel and don't want to carry a laptop. I use it to review on a tablet. I download when I get home.

As an alternative, you can get a card reader that has a USB-C connection, or whatever connector your tablet has. You can put the card in the reader and plug it into your tablet and read directly from the card. I have tried this using both with SD and CF Express cards. I picked up a CF Express card only reader that has both USB-C and full sized USB connectors. It ran about $20 on Amazon. I already had an SD reader.

Snapbridge has a reputation for being temperamental.

Ok, tablet is used instead of a phone. But Snapbridge is still copying the photo from the camera by Bluetooth connection to storage on the tablet. Then it will upload a copy to Nikon Image Space cloud storage. But those images also remain on the tablet storage. They can fill up all remaining storage space if you do not delete them. I still recommend you check that.

Well, if you use the card reader and just open the images from the external card, they are not downloaded to the tablet memory, unless you copy them. Snapbridge is not involved in this. I have browsed images from my camera's card like this without Snapbridge even loaded on the tablet.

All valid Clovis, but my take here is that our original poster does not remove the SD card from camera in any of his preferred workflow. So I am addressing why the failure to move the photos from the camera to Snapbridge is happening. Clearly adjusting white balance was only a coincidence and I am hoping to refocus the troubleshooting to real reasons why Snapbridge stops transferring photos.

My intent was to offer a simple, inexpensive alternative to using Snapbridge. Between my experience with it, and the issues I see brought up here quite often, it seems to be a troublesome piece of software, and a viable alternative might be handy.

I never used Snapbridge but remember reading it had issues. In the past, I used Nikon's Wireless Mobility Utility app which worked fine. But I haven't used it in years so no clue if it still works.
