Sometimes my compositions work, and other times, they just don't grab, of course, depending on the circumstances, you
have to take what is available,

Here is a recent photograph I took that I think works fairly well from a composition point of view.

Now without the person, the picture would have been fine, but,, people might not respond
as well, as adding the lonely person walking, Lucky for me, I happened to have a person
with me that day, who,, cooperated and walked where I told her to walk, allowing me
to create this layer effect, of some foreground leading to the girl walking, then
the eye drifting to her target, the light house, followed by the extra layer of the
sun hole, followed by a less powerful layer of the far off mountains.

then add some extra subtle layers of the fog, and snow, and I believe
the overall composition holds together as a story.

can also play with the tone, like

and change the mood to a darker more moody shot. anyhow, just an example.
