I went hunting with Andy, I just used my camera to shoot. A pair of Northern Harriers hunt in the fields all around his blind. I was able to get a photo of this, I think female, harrier. However, I could not ever get my camera to focus when she was close even though I was right on her so I will try again soon.

Coming back from a nature hike I spotted this red tail hawk? hanging out in a cemetery. Seemed awful fixated on something below its perch. (I'm not much of a bird person, but I will certainly take advantage of an opportunity! :) )

Wow, that's kind of up close and personal! We have several of these turkey vultures around here. They aren't exactly the best looking birds out there, but at least they only feed on lifeless animals.

got to about 100 ft? from me, i had a long walk, maybe they saw me as a lifeless animal. :D

I went out hunting, early one morning, with Andy and had been taking pictures of a Northern Harrier and a Sparrow Hawk when what I thought at the time I took a picture of a funny looking Sparrow Hawk. Later when I looked at the pictures on the computer I realized it was a Peregrine Falcon. We don't have many of them where we live so I was very happy to have capture this one on camera.

The reason the finches and sparrows were so quiet this morning

Do you happen to know if this is a Cooper's Hawk? The streaking goes all the way down its chest. The thing is it doesn't look quite so tubular like a Cooper's Hawk. And am assuming it isn't a Red-Tailed Hawk since it lacks the white crop.

Yes, juvi Cooper's. Quite small and still a clumsy flier/hunter. I wish there had been some sort of light, as it posed nicely.
