Thank you. I just googled some more shots and I see it now. Loon was not even on my radar, I don't recall ever seeing adult loons here at the lake. Something new.
ok i need some pointers here, Sharp shinned or Coopers Hawk??
i think Coopers, rounded tail, SS has skinnier legs but its hard to compare when one is on its own? they are juvi's from the nest across the street, 3 flew into the palms in my backyard, chased a hooded oriole out.
how or what do you look for when iding these two almost identical raptors?

Thanks, I got a picture of a male at about the same time, and did identify it, so I don't know why I didn't think of this. New bird for me, so that always cool. I appreciate the help!
