Sitting in a new restaurant/club last weekend a girl came over to ask if I would take her photo on her phone. "sure, if I can figure out how to use it"
The light was mixed source and dim so the photo did not turn out that good so I pulled my D800 with a 70-200 2.8 mounted and set one light off camera triggered with RF controllers and snapped 1 frame.
It is amazing how many people I have met and become friends by having a camera that looks a bit more serious than a point and shoot. I sent her the photo and she called this evening asking if I would do more photos. I agreed after the new years holidays for studio shots because I suggested full length since she has a great fashion model like, tall, slim graceful figure. There is no sense building a studio since you can rent a very well equipped studio with ProFoto strobes, and choices of room decor scenes or just bare rooms with backdrops, dressing and makeup/stylist station for about $25/hour, with about 150 available around the city. D800, f/2.8 180mm on 70-200, ISO 200, 1/200

The same evening I took a photo of two friends who dropped by the new place. I met them a year ago the same way, having a camera which appeared to be serious and people...girls...introduce themselves and ask for photos

Ok I am now settled into my new job and can get some shoots in !!

Here is one of the photos I took a couple weeks ago.

I was able to take the Rotolight Anova Pro 2 out into the wild and take some shots with it, as it was still Autumn in the UK I based the shoot around that, here is one of the shots ...

Osatacruz, you fooled me. I thought that was one wide photo of two girls sitting next to each other. I was marveling at the focal plane and evenness of light. Then I reduced the browser window to do something else and the two photos separated and were displayed on top of the other. (They are still very nice pics!)

Ha! Getting one to sit still long enough for a photo is hard enough, that'd be impossible. Thanks for the comment though :)

I shot an event last night and some of the girls I knew wanted photos so I could never turn down a pretty lady The only ones who were not long time friends we the two together. This was for an international social club I am a member of so was "volunteered" without asking me. But I don't mind as long as there is something or someone interesting to shoot:>)

You seem to do quite well finding someone interesting to shoot!

I have a good time, as I was explaining to a younger American living here a long time when he asked how come I meet so many beautiful girls and he, who is younger, better looking, doesn't. I don't meet them, they introduce themselves to me and usually give me their phone number without asking. My suggestion was to have a tiny cute dog/puppy or have a big lens. We were walking in a park at the time and he thought I was joking but 15 seconds later a really cute young woman came up to us and asked if I would take her photo. She gave me her card to send the photo. 15 minutes later another two gives approached me. The girls above were friends I met over the last couple years who approached me to take photos and we have done activities together a number of times. The bottom photo is of a girl I did not know but she and I have talked on the phone since that photo was taken Wednesday. She wanted to arrange a girls day where she and her girlfriends want a play day of going into a studio, have a MUA, and lots of changes of clothes. Renting a high-quality studio is very low cost here, a 60 sq meter studio with high ceiling, floor to ceiling windows with blackout curtains and 4 ProFoto strobes with all the modifiers is about $20-25/hour. A MUA is about $8/hour so we could spend 3 hours and get hundreds of good photos in a studio with a choice of scenes. The one closest to my home has 7 studios, 1 is bare, just backdrops but the others are different scenes...modern living room, classic Victorian style bedroom complete with working clawfoot period bathtub, modern sleek office etc. There are about 120 such studios to rent by the hour in the city center. All I need to bring is my cameras and lenses. It is a lot of fun, and good practice.

I got into the studio yesterday and just shot for myself.

It has been a while since I have been able to shoot something just for me.

I wanted to play with Gel lighting and with my job at Rotolight, I knew LED lighting would be handy in letting me see what I will get before I take the shot.

Here is one of the finished results -

Some have commented that I only shoot girls but although admitting to being partial to women, I find that fewer men want their photos taken, either because they are shy or possibly because it might be seen that they were where they were not supposed to be or with the person they were with.
But some want photos, such as this one at a bar/dance club last Saturday

Another of my friend at her birthday party when she turned 35, as she greeted her GF's arrival. They began acting academy together when they were 13 y.o. and both were in plays in a dozen countries until a few years ago when my friend, on the left, began focusing on movies and TV series roles. She plays a detective in a TV police drama. There were 28 people at the party and all but me and one other person was an actor, director or writer.
