They are actually - we are just south of Fort Mac and as the crow flies (or in this case geese) it is not that far. We are in no danger at this time (as of the last wildfire update at least). Our small town is hosting hundreds of evacuees. Community response has been overwhelming to support the displaced people.

Quick shot of a crow flying overhead.
Didn't notice until I was processing the image that it was carrying some building materials back to the nest.
Insert is from a different image of the same bird - caught a few as I was on burst mode.
Don't think the EXIF shows: D610 - Nikkor 200-500mm
This photo sucks but it did help me to identify the bird that was making a really odd sound, almost like a penguin to my ear. From this pic I guessed it was a snipe and I found out they make a strange drumming sound with modified tail feathers as part of their breeding display.
