Question for those knowledgeable about guns and ammo

I was given this cool old box the other day and am curious how old you think it might be. And the box looks much cooler in person than it does in these not-so-good photos. Also, do you think I should oil it to help condition the wood or just leave it be?
Thanks

Do not oil it, wash it, etc. that will ruin its collectible value.

From time to time companies will put out these crates so what I would do is take some pictures (you have a camera?) and contact the company. I have yet to see a gun company that isn't overly friendly in customer relations.

Good suggestion Moab but the company was absorbed by Olin in 1944 and is the same company that bought Winchester. That's why you'll see the cross emblem on Winchester ammo. So at the very least it's almost 70's yrs old, I was just curious if someone here knew a way to date it based on the verbiage on the box.

It is a shame it was not filled with ammunition from that period! Though I am not sure I would want to run stuff that old through my shotgun! Besides, Remington shotguns are programmed to reject Winchester ammunition!
