OK, people, I want your honest and unbiased opinion of this random shot I took of a friends cat.

Nice shot Jack. The only thing I find disturbing is the color of the cat's retina. I'd try to retouch it darker and remove the greenish cast. If it would have a backlight it would have even been better.

I agree with the eye color, I like everything else. The eyes look a bit glazed over, next time catch him before he starts drinking

I can't do anything about the cat's eyes because that is the actual colour of the cat's eyes. Thanks for the CC, guys.

You beat me to it Eye-Level the eyes are strange( i can live with that) however the cropped ear stands out for me.

The ear is a minor and irrelevant detail... the color of the eyes and the intensity of the expression is what is most captivating.

I'm curious as to how you achieved the full face of the critter being in focus. I assume you stopped the lens down a bit maybe?

I just used my trusty 18-105 lens on my D40 at f5.6 and 1/60th of a sec shutter speed, ISO 400, zoomed out to 105mm, light streaming through a patio window was just right, and snapped the shot.
