Hunting for some oldies, thoughts?

Holy necro thread, but on the flip side it still is a great topic.

Still gotta finish Ai converting my old 50/2, else still debating about getting the 50/1.2 non-Ai and doing the conversion myself since it sports the awesome metal focusing and aperture rings instead of those rubber or bumpy plastic ones.

It seems almost obligatory that I mention, in this thread, my three very old lenses.

I bought all of these sometime in late 1986, along with an F2 Photomic body. All were made in the late 1960s to early 1970s. I now routinely use all of them on my D3200, in spite of Nikon's insistence that I cannot.

This is my 50mm ƒ1.4 lens, the “standard” lens for my F2.

And a 28mm ƒ3.5. “Wide angle” for my F2, but close to a “normal” lens for my D3200, if mounting something this primitive on a D3200 can be called “normal”.

And my 85-205mm ƒ3.8 Vivitar zoom lens. This lens has some very interesting characteristics, which I have shown off in some other threads. At smaller aperture settings, it produces good, sharp images, but at wider settings, it produces some interesting distortions that give the pictures a quality that I want to describe as “dreamy”.

Here are a few examples of “dreamy” pictures taken with the Vivitar at wide aperture settings…

I had a Nikkor 135mm f3.5 for the summer. They run about $70-80.

I sold mine on Ebay for $130 including shipping but mine was in LN condition. It paid for the 80-200mm f/4 AIS I just got. I took some photos of a known landmark in my neighborhood from my front porch with it before I sold it and then just took one with the zoom. I could see no discernible differences at 200% in PS at all apertures with the zoom at 135mm. And the difference between f/4 and f/3.5 is negligible so it was a good move.
