just curious. when I bought my D600 it had something like 120 clicks and my guess is it was a store return. I cant prove it though. I bought mack vip warranty and I needed the camera pronto so had to suck it up but I was pissed when I found out. someone told me that its possible to get that amount straight from the factory.

Im letting you guys post for multiple cameras.

if you didnt check it, thats fine. I just like to know if others had as many clicks as I did.

thank you.

I'd guess they fire the shutter a few times in final inspection before the camera goes out, right? Anyway, my D70 from many years ago had about 30, several of which were me trying the camera out in the store. My D7100 was a refurb, and it had something like 3000.

My refurbished D7100 had 39 but I didn't expect it to have none. My D610 had zero with my first shot being #1. I don't think I checked with my D600 or D90 because I wasn't aware it could be checked.

I agree with you, or even to check my EXIF directly from Aperture or Lightroom, but it seemed most people were using 3rd party websites to validate this data so that's what I did too.

If you take a card from a previous nikon body with images on, it can start counting from there. My new D300s a few years ago appeared to have 2500 clicks. I rang the shop who were very good and during the process I realised it was the card that caused the problem.

so mine is of the high ones. im guessing mine was a returned camera. doesnt matter too much. its more about integrity of the store that sold it and I will not be buying there again. my frend has the camera now with warranty so hes covered.

I never checked mine, but went back to the first picture I kept with the D600 and it was picture 30. But I can just about bet I deleted the first 5-10 because I was still learning the camera and differences between it and my D7k. So I am thinking 20-25 for mine.

A couple of websites I found claim that you can use PS to open an image and then look under the advanced tab in the File/File Info dialog for the line I circled in the screen shot below. If this is correct, my first shot with the D3200 was number 4.

An easy way to check for Mac users is to open the image in Preview and open the inspector and it's simply listed there under image number

I got my D5300 direct from Nikon USA. I can't tell for sure how many clicks it had, but the earliest picture I have that I took with it says 15 clicks. I did take some pictures before this one, so for sure I can say less than 15. If I would have known how to check on the first pic, I would have done it because I like new to be new. Ha!
