NOH8 Campaign

This is Bobbie, a photographer friend of mine. I've been in a creative slump as of late, and this is a project I've been wanting to do for awhile now. Comments and critiques welcome!

Cool shot and I've been a fan of that campaign for some time now. The only thoughts I have are 1) the background isn't completely white, maybe a stop or 2 under lit, and 2) her shirt gets lost in the background. I was reading in a link that I believe you posted about portrait photography and they touched on that a bit. White on white and black on black. Face is nicely lit and overall that's a great shot. It's also supporting a good cause so two big thumbs up from me. :D

The background is white, just the immediate area around her is not. If you look at other photos on the NOH8 site, they are like that. Most people are wearing white shirts as well. I wanted to replicate the style seen on the site as closely as I could.

Nice shot Anthony. My only complaint is the eyes are a tad soft and the softbox catch lights (2 in each eye) is kind of distracting....Would an umbrella widen the light a bit and not catch 2 distinct "boxes" in the eyes? The eye makeup draws you right into them which makes the above really noticable...for me at least. otherwise I really like it.

Yeah, I should've posted the final edit...one of the softboxes in each eye has since been removed.

Honestly, I don't like working with umbrellas. They are only good if you need a lot of light blasted all over the place, but umbrellas suck at controlled lighting, putting light where you want it. The light is also nowhere near as soft as a softbox.
